Born September 22, 1975 Belleville, NJ to parents Roland and Teresita. 1 older sibling Melissa is two years senior.
Early Years:
Little League Baseball: member of the Bloomfield All Star Team 2x . Teams won the 10-and-under and 12-and-under Town Championships. Played guard for St Thomas the Apostle School Basketball, Bloomfield, NJ. 1987-88 Team went undefeated 28-0.
High School Years:
Attended Seton Hall Preparatory School, West Orange, NJ. 1989-1993 Ran JV and varsity cross country 4 years; captain of XC senior year. Ran JV and varsity indoor track 4 years, specializing in 800 M and 2 mile relay. Played varsity tennis 4 years; 2nd team all state doubles in 1992.
College Years:
Attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ 1993-1997 Was member of Rutgers cycling team for 3 years. Co-founder of Rutgers Road Runners Club. Was member of Rutgers masters swim team and RU Capoeira Sports Director of Rutgers Association of Philippine Students (RAPS)
Recent:
Graduated from Montclair State University with Masters of Arts in Exercise Science Master's Thesis examined the effect of variable cycle crank length on steady state VO2.
Hobbies and Interests:
Traveling, theatre and cinema, reading books by Joseph Campbell, going to museums, martial arts, dance, and speed-skating (look out for Arland in 2010!)
